August 2009 Update

To the readers:

It's been about 8 months since I last blogged on here, but I am proud to say that I am back. I'm going to be switching things up a little, expanding the range of the blog, including a new weekly guide to my favorite music called Breeze Weekly, as well as more music, videos, and other media. I hope that I can make this site your one stop for music, so get on board and tell all of your friends. I'm back, baby!

Asher Roth Update

I found the full video of him freestyling over "Mr. Me Too". This is really dope, if you have any doubts about Asher, this will most likely make you a believer.

Asher Roth on Carson Daly

Asher Roth has really been building up momentum and credibility in the online hip-hop community, and my guess is that as soon as he drops an album he will be a mainstream success. Here's a video of him being praised on Carson Daly's show Last Call.

New Kanye Freestyle

Kanye was out in Singapore about a week ago, and after performing his verse from Young Jeezy's "Put On", Kanye went into a long freestyle, letting us know that Kanye's still got it. As much as I like some of what I've heard on 808's & Heartbreak, it would be lie to say this freestyle doesn't make me crave some more rapping then what we'll be getting. Regardless, enjoy the video. Kanye always knows how to move a crowd.

Ludacris/Lil Wayne collabo- "Last of a Dying Breed"

Sorry for the hiatus- but I'm back. Resume your daily views and keep finding the newest music, news, politics, videos, and everything right here.

This Luda track off of Theater of the Mind is maybe my favorite ever Luda song. Lil Wayne's verse is incredible, and the swagger and intensity here is great.

New A.P.T.- Kick Bush video

My man A.P.T. over at http://aptsongs.wordpress.com/ has just put out a video for his song "Kick Bush", a remix to Lupe's "Kick, Push"... and it is another very clever and witty track. Keep on the lookout for this guy, and I will keep posting videos as he stays in contact.

New Game/ Just Blaze

There's a new song that has surfaced produced by Just Blaze that is a banger, yet it did not make the album's final cut. It's a pretty dope track, so if this is a leftover L.A.X. must be really dope.

New Luda/T.I.

Two of Atlanta's finest, Ludacris & T.I. have squashed their beef and recorded a song to be released on Luda's forthcoming LP Theater of the Mind and it is a banger, as would be expected. DJ Toomp killed it behind the boards.

Jockin' Jay-Z

During Kanye's performance the other night at Madison Square Garden he debuted a new Jay-Z track that he produced that is possibly from a Blueprint 3 album that is questionably in the works. Kanye's production is on-point and Jay sounds great. He keeps rapping hard he'll make up for Kingdom Come.

Whatever You Like video

This song has been playing on my iPod all day. This is one hell of a summer song... and now here's the video. I expect this to shoot up the charts just like "Lollipop" did.

Asher Roth's first single

To all my readers- this morning at 12:05 AM boybillions.com posted this new Ash Roth track entitled "I Love College", and after listening to it myself it is now going to be available to all my readers at 12:08 AM. Now that's a committed blogger! I got work early tomorrow so I'm about to be out but this is a great feel-good joint about the college experience many of us love. Check out the track.

Game/Weezy "My Life" Video Shoot

Forget what I said about it possibly not making the album, "My Life" is the confirmed second single (I guess "Dope Boys" was more of a street single although they made a video). Here's a video of Game and Wayne out on set in East L.A. filming what looks to be a pretty grimy video complete with shootouts and graveyards. So much for a summer anthem. Regardless the song is hot and I'm feelin' Game's flow. I don't see this being big on the charts though.

Weekly Music Guide: August 3-10

Got work pretty soon so this is just to get the lists out, but expect all of the links to be up by the end of the night. Also, remember that the top 10 songs will be linked upon request. You can do this by leaving a comment on the post, using the chat box, or e-mailing me at jwbunc25@gmail.com. You can use that e-mail at any time to send me songs or anything or to request something larger. On to the guide:

Close calls:

Ludacris- What Them Girls Like ft. Chris Brown & Sean Garrett (see earlier post for link/review)

I didn't post this link when I got it a few days ago, so I'll take a minute to review. This is a very introspective track by Game who stated that all the songs on his album were "universal summer songs", so maybe this won't be on the album? I actually am really feeling this track. Contrary to most people's views when Game is emotional he sounds most sincere. I'm not really going for all the Westside gangsta rap. To be honest the depressed Dr. Dre-tribute "Doctor's Advocate" was one of my favorite songs off his last album of the same name. Weezy can't get off that autotune, but actually he really fits the mood on the song. Game's lyrics are on-point, and if you fall to deep into the mood you're missing something important that he's saying. The one controversy with the song is that in the first version that leaked to the internet Game's 2nd verse contained these lines: "You see them 24's spinnin? I earned them// And all the pictures of me and Em, I burned them// So there ain't no proof that I ever walked through 8 Mile// And since there ain't no Proof, I never walked through 8 Mile". First off, why is he taking shots at Em? Now, the real question is why did he change those lines for the CDQ version that I'm giving y'all today. He's filled up those lines with some filler and the line "and fuck Jesse Jackson cause it ain't about race now". Maybe we'll hear more about this in the future. If you're interested in hearing the early version, check it out here.

Asher Roth- A Milli (see earlier post for link and review) Oh, and I'm now an even bigger fan after learning that Ash Roth is reppin' West Chester, PA- that's right up my alley.

Now what you've been waiting for: THE TOP 10:

10. David Banner- Shawty Say ft. David Banner
9. Nas- We Make The World Go Round ft. Chris Brown & The Game
8. Lloyd- I Need Love ft. The-Dream
7. R. Kelly- Skin
6. T.I.- Swing Ya Rag ft. Swizz Beatz
5. Akon- Clap Again
4. Bow Wow- Big Bank Take Lil Bank ft. Swizz Beatz
3. Chris Brown- Electric Guitar
2. Nas- Black President
1. Ne-Yo- Miss Independent

That's right, Ne-Yo is this week's #1! That song is undeniable.

Weekly Downloads:

The Game- L.A.X. leaks? I haven't checked this yet, so if anyone checks it out let me know if its the real thing. The download link can be found here.

This is a MUST download! The homie APT is incredibly talented and funny, and this is a great mixtape for any Obama fan. I've been bumpin' the "A Millie" remix that he did "Obama, Obama" for awhile now- and he's now got a video so check this out and if you're feelin' it make sure you support him and download the mixtape. Also check out his myspace and his website where he posts a new song weekly.

JD's Celebrity Basketball Game

Jermaine Dupri recently held a celebrity basketball game in Atlanta, with his So So Def family going against Nelly's Derrty Ent. crew. Kevin Hart is always a laugh.

Nas on the Colbert Report

This is a little late, but an interesting and inspiring video. I have really been appreciating the efforts of highly respected members of the hip-hop community speaking out against McCain and for Obama, and at the front of this is Nas. The more that rappers like him merge gaps between the black community and white liberals the stronger and smoother Obama's support will flow. John Legend also appeared on the show during the Spring, and both guests have really influenced the public. This was very uplifting to see. The embed's not working, so just follow the link. Oh, and if you're not familiar, Stephen Colbert is a very sarcastic person. Don't get it confused. lol.

Luda is back!

That's right y'all, the self-proclaimed "King of the South" Ludacris is back with the first single from his upcoming album Theater of the Mind, "What Them Girls Like" ft. Chris Brown & Sean Garrett. The Darkchild production is catchy and definitely radio ready, and Luda showcases his great charisma all over the beat. Call it "Money Maker" 2.0. The Chris Breezy chorus sure doesn't help his chances of this being a major hit. Look for this to be climbing the charts in no time.

ASHer Roth

This dude Asher Roth is sick, I can't even lie... and I don't think anybody who's staying on top of hip-hop right now can overlook him. He claims that he is the "Burbs' first person to murder a verse", and he has done just that on just about every track I've heard from him thus far. So... for all of you who are not yet familiar, you better get familiar, cause this college kid is gonna take the game by storm.

First up is "A Millie", which just about everybody has gotten on, so I'm not suprised that Ash followed. If not my favorite remix, this one is up there and a must download.

Next up is his internet-acclaimed The Greenhouse Effect mixtape hosted by Don Cannon & DJ Drama. This is one of the best mixtapes I've heard this year. This mixtape puts him up there with Ya Boy on my list of favorite mixtape artists. And that's what I feel Ash will be... I haven't heard the expected single "College Kid" that he is promising us in the fall, but I feel his style is more meant for the mixtapes. So take this one for what is it- a college kid who loves music making some feel good tracks and ripping a handful of beats.

Stay tuned for more Ash updates, and I'll put the "Roth Boys" video up later tonight.

Keep it locked.

JB

Jay-Z puts on for his city too...

That's right, Kanye's been X'd, and his "big brother" takes his spot with yet another killer guest verse from Hov. Jeezy sounds better on the remix, and Jay adds a new flavor. Although I'm a big Kanye fan, I was pretty sick of all that autotune filling up my ears. Shouts to Low.

Oh by the way, that Bow Wow/Swizz track is a killer. I've had it playing all day. Look out for Pedigree this summer!

Bad girls

Danity Kane and Missy Elliot's new track, the Danja-produced "Bad Girl" is the newest single off of Welcome to the Dollhouse, and the girls have gone with a very sexual video. Nothing wrong by me.

Got Money! And you know it!

Lil Wayne & T-Pain's (T-Wayne?) new single "Got Money" is tearing up the radio out here in Philly, and as the declared third single, the video has recently surfaced. This is a big track, one of the catchiest and radio-friendly songs on a commercially-driven Tha Carter III.
