Weekly Music Guide: August 3-10

Got work pretty soon so this is just to get the lists out, but expect all of the links to be up by the end of the night. Also, remember that the top 10 songs will be linked upon request. You can do this by leaving a comment on the post, using the chat box, or e-mailing me at jwbunc25@gmail.com. You can use that e-mail at any time to send me songs or anything or to request something larger. On to the guide:

Close calls:

Ludacris- What Them Girls Like ft. Chris Brown & Sean Garrett (see earlier post for link/review)

I didn't post this link when I got it a few days ago, so I'll take a minute to review. This is a very introspective track by Game who stated that all the songs on his album were "universal summer songs", so maybe this won't be on the album? I actually am really feeling this track. Contrary to most people's views when Game is emotional he sounds most sincere. I'm not really going for all the Westside gangsta rap. To be honest the depressed Dr. Dre-tribute "Doctor's Advocate" was one of my favorite songs off his last album of the same name. Weezy can't get off that autotune, but actually he really fits the mood on the song. Game's lyrics are on-point, and if you fall to deep into the mood you're missing something important that he's saying. The one controversy with the song is that in the first version that leaked to the internet Game's 2nd verse contained these lines: "You see them 24's spinnin? I earned them// And all the pictures of me and Em, I burned them// So there ain't no proof that I ever walked through 8 Mile// And since there ain't no Proof, I never walked through 8 Mile". First off, why is he taking shots at Em? Now, the real question is why did he change those lines for the CDQ version that I'm giving y'all today. He's filled up those lines with some filler and the line "and fuck Jesse Jackson cause it ain't about race now". Maybe we'll hear more about this in the future. If you're interested in hearing the early version, check it out here

Asher Roth- A Milli (see earlier post for link and review) Oh, and I'm now an even bigger fan after learning that Ash Roth is reppin' West Chester, PA- that's right up my alley.

Now what you've been waiting for: THE TOP 10:

10. David Banner- Shawty Say ft. David Banner
9. Nas- We Make The World Go Round ft. Chris Brown & The Game
8. Lloyd- I Need Love ft. The-Dream
7. R. Kelly- Skin
6. T.I.- Swing Ya Rag ft. Swizz Beatz
5. Akon- Clap Again
4. Bow Wow- Big Bank Take Lil Bank ft. Swizz Beatz
3. Chris Brown- Electric Guitar
2. Nas- Black President
1. Ne-Yo- Miss Independent

That's right, Ne-Yo is this week's #1! That song is undeniable.

Weekly Downloads:

The Game- L.A.X. leaks? I haven't checked this yet, so if anyone checks it out let me know if its the real thing. The download link can be found here.

This is a MUST download! The homie APT is incredibly talented and funny, and this is a great mixtape for any Obama fan. I've been bumpin' the "A Millie" remix that he did "Obama, Obama" for awhile now- and he's now got a video so check this out and if you're feelin' it make sure you support him and download the mixtape. Also check out his myspace and his website where he posts a new song weekly.
